Harman Kardon’s new Invoke speaker is powered by the Microsoft Cortana personal assistant software; the speaker is HK’s contender in the tabletop device market, in competition with the Google Home and the Amazon Echo.
Invoke will have the ability to perform three essentially useful functions: it’ll allow users to make and receive calls via Skype, control music via services like Microsoft Groove (or the more popular Spotify) and it will be able to “get things done” using Cortana, the Microsoft digital assistant.
Invoke is set to ship this fall; that’s about a year after both of the other major players in its target market. However, the device will join with both company’s other ventures and presumably be able to link up with other Cortana-powered devices found in the home, pocket and, soon, cars as well.
Pricing has yet to be released for the Harman Kardon Invoke.
