HYT’s $95,000 H4 Neo May Be the Hydro-Mechanical Specialists’ Most Subtle Watch to Date

Only recently, watchmaker HYT released its more traditional timepiece line Ho. The Ho watches attempted to bring the company’s designs into line with more mainstream tastes.

But the brand is at its best when it shows us anything but traditional, and the new H4 Neo watch, thankfully, is a return to form. Fluid form.

The HYT H4 Neo is a visual feast for those whose imaginations lean toward sci-fi, and conjures ‘Matrix’ referents. With two purple LED lights behind the 6 o’clock and two crowns, one at the 2 o’clock and the other at the 4 o’clock, the watch gives you a lot to look at. The first crown is standard for setting time, while the 4 o’clock crown is used to create energy.

The coolest part about the second crown is that when the user winds it a second mainspring is wound, and the power created is then stored in a micro-generator. This power is then used to light the two purple LED lights that in turn light up highly luminescent nanoparticles laced throughout the transparent dial. That’s a watch that tells time, and makes for an interesting story, too.

The charcoal gray DLC-coated titanium case of the H4 Neo measures in at 51mm by 18mm, making it the largest in HYT’s latest collection. The recalls to “The Matrix” are also ever present with the numerals used on the dials, all while staying true to HYT’s brand styling. Using purple is a newly added twist for HYT, though.

Giving the H4 Neo its power is the brand’s exclusive micro-liquid technology. Two different bellows, one with a colored liquid and one with a clear liquid compress and depress in order to display the time along the outer edge of the dial. This unique system offers a generous 65-hour power reserve.

All of this is attached wristward via a water-resistant, fire-resistant, hypo-allergenic reinforced fabric strap.

HYT will only make 15 examples of its H4 Neo timepiece. Each will cost $95,000.
