It looks like Celine Dion has finally sold her massive estate in coastal Florida. The chanteuse has had the property up for sale for about four years, and had listed it initially with an asking price of over $72 million. After numerous price cuts, the asking price finally settled at $38.5 million. The selling price is not as of yet confirmed, but presumably it was in the neighborhood of that figure. Dion had purchased the property in 2008 with her late husband and business manager, René Angélil, for a little over $7 million, and the couple had the place custom built as a retreat for themselves, family and friends.
In keeping, the estate is proportioned and laid out as a venue for collective vacationing. The interior living space measures nearly 19,000 square feet, and there are thirteen bedrooms and twenty baths overall. The lot size comes in at 5.7 acres, and three pools—one of which resembles a small lake—join five pavilions for outdoor entertaining. The estate was designed, too, with children in mind, and the main pool incorporates a sophisticated mini-waterpark.
As for the interiors, well, aside from space, they offer a fairly understated sense of the luxurious. Shiplap, open-trussed ceilings, and cottage sensibilities are the rule throughout the home, for the feeling of a Caribbean cottage that began to expand, and did not stop. Lots of reflective surface area, cool tones that reflect the waterfront location, and a few earth tones to ground the whole thing are the extent of the décor. The emphasis is on location, and a sense of community.
The guest quarters are comprised of a double guest-house—connected, with each living space self-sufficient—and a smaller guest house, as well as a pool house. The property has access to 415 feet of private ocean frontage.
Other amenities include a tennis court and house, firepit and poolside lounge, home cinema, fitness center, and indoor driving range.
Celine Dion currently spends much of her time in Las Vegas, where the singer is engaged in an open-ended contract at the Colosseum.
