Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander has listed his La Jolla beachfront residence up for sale. The billionaire is asking $16.4 million for the property, which he purchased in the late 2000’s for about $15 million. The current asking price represents an increase of a little less than 5% over Alexander’s previous attempt to sell the home, in 2015.
The Contemporary style home dates to 2002, and measures 9,000 square feet. It contains only three bedrooms; the layout favors the master suite, which comprises a full floor of the residence. Much of the square footage is devoted to entertainment space. The home contains five and one half baths.
The house’s interior is a tour-de-force, with design elements evoking the location—many rounded, fluid lines, highlighted ceilings, and plentiful glass to show off the location. Materials include burled walnut and birdseye maple, and granite countertops in both the main kitchen and the secondary, which is situated in the entertainment room.
The master suite deserves special mention. The twin baths have been designed as individual statements, and both are strikingly beautiful. The walk-in closets feature cedar-lined walls.
The home contains several fireplaces; the master gets one, and there are two more in the entertainment room, which also contains a wet bar.
The property exterior works outdoor terraces, patios and an oceanfront deck into the design. The home features fifty feet of beach frontage.
Attorney and trader Leslie Alexander—net worth in the neighborhood of $1.9 billion—founded the Alexander Group in 1980; he purchased the Houston Rockets in 1993 for $85 million. In 2008, Forbes named him the best owner in the NBA.
