Television producer Mark Burnett is offering a Malibu retreat as a lease. Burnett is looking for $70K per month for high season rental of the property, and half that for rent during winter months.
The house spans about 3,400 square feet, and contains three bedrooms and five baths. It’s a three floor residence, and features beach frontage.
The home’s design is an interesting blend of late 20th century and quasi-medieval elements; the result is a kind of storybook contemporary. All in all, the street side impression comes off as a little quixotic, with the stacked stone turret resting in a tenuous balance with the hard contemporary geometry.
The home’s interior favors the rustic. Rough-hewn exposed beams, wrought iron, timber accents, stacked stone, and wide-plank flooring mark the living spaces. Beams, flooring and iron all appear to be reclaimed. All the stone and wood, and the history in the materials, give the home a certain naturalistic weight that’s effectively charming.
Views of the Pacific and beach are ubiquitous in the home, and there’s no shortage of glass beachside. French doors and retractable glass walls encourage inhabitants to lounge outside, and the high-gloss hardwood beachfront decks are pleasing to the eye. The design incorporates a cozy side deck, as well, which is connected to the front by a set of stairs.
Award-winning producer Burnett has many hits to his name, NBC’s ‘The Voice’ and CBS’s ‘Survivor’ among them. He has taken home 10 Emmys.
