Professional soccer player Jermaine Jones has listed his home in Encino. The midfielder is asking $4.495 million for the property, which he picked up in 2011 for $2.5 million.
The Mediterranean-style house dates to 2001. It measures a little over 6,700 square feet, and contains six bedrooms and 6.5 baths. The exterior walls are Tuscan-inspired stucco, and it features a semicircular tiled, low-pitched roof.
Original interior features include a foyer tiled in natural stone, and a formal dining room with a coffered ceiling in silver leaf, accented by crown moldings. The floor of the dining room is finished with inlaid oak, with the design following through into the kitchen. A sweeping staircase in hardwood, with a wrought iron balustrade and handrail, is understated and cozy, and the kitchen is more or less country-cottage style, with contemporary lighting adding a dash of modern influence.
Jones and his wife took an adventurous approach to their remodel of the home; a swing in the family room is an unusual and pleasant addition, and the wild cylindrical chandelier in the foyer is striking. His and hers walk-in closets and dressing rooms are carpeted in zebra and leopard patterns, while hanging seating in the master bath offers another contrasting design element. The style never really settles down into a cohesive destination, but the trip is pretty interesting.
The house opens constantly onto the property, and incorporates a very warm second-floor terrace floored in brick, as well as a three-room pool house with enclosed spa opening via broad ornamental arches; the accessory structure works a wet bar and a bath into the design.
Jones began his professional career in Europe before moving to the U.S. He played with New England and Colorado, and formally joined the L.A. Galaxy in January.
