Actor Demi Moore has sold her San Remo penthouse. The ‘G.I. Jane’ star had initially listed the duplex property in the early spring of 2015, with an asking price of $75 million. A price cut of $16 million brought things into perspective, and she accepted an offer of $45 million for the penthouse, and the accompanying two bedroom two bath lobby maisonette.

Moore and then-husband Bruce Willis purchased the property in 1990. The seller was Robert Stigwood, the manager of Cream and Eric Clapton who turned to film production in the late 1970’s.

The penthouse residence capping the San Remo’s south tower is widely considered to be one of the most desirable properties in the city. The building’s historical relevance, and the unique quality of the residence, distinguishes it from the more generic quality of contemporary units in its price range. The building features a romantic design by Emery Roth, with many flourishes, and an emphasis on the asymmetrical.

Moore’s former penthouse was renovated tastefully by herself and Willis. The design aesthetic is Mission, and warm wood abounds, balanced by the abundant planar lines of the style. Floors are inlaid hardwood, with contrasting baseboards. The staircase, a sweeping statement moving into a sweeping ceiling design, is nothing short of spectacular. The residence contains seventeen rooms; it is rimmed by balconies, and offset with a slate terrace. Views of city and park are, of course, remarkable.

Demi Moore’s next silver screen appearance will be in the upcoming ‘Rough Night,’ slated for release this June.
