Better reconsider making a run for it.
Certainly, newer police cars have become more impressive with technological upgrades, and the use of performance-oriented base models like the Dodge Charger. But most American cop cars aren’t seen as sexy speedsters. Nissan’s new GT-R concept car is trying to change that perception.
The concept car known as “Police Pursuit #23” has been designed to apprehend criminals with speed and style. While not actually built for use by police, it’s been offered up as a possible future model option for a faster police cruiser.
In addition to a powerful twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine that pumps out 565 horsepower and 467 pound-feet of torque, various modification have been made to up the ante. Some of the exterior additions include carbon fiber rear fender flares, a custom front bumper, carbon fiber/glass front wide-body fenders, a push bar, and more.
Other alterations include the addition of graphics, a loud speaker, and a siren loud enough to frighten drivers near and far.
Nissan also plans to debut its 2017 GT-R Track Edition and Heritage Edition of the 370Z that are available to purchase.
While the unique Nissan won’t be on display at the 2017 New York International Auto Show floor, it is currently available to view around New York City.
