‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ Stand-in Home Hits the Market in L.A. for $9M

A house in Studio City used for a prominent exterior shot of the Kardashian chronicles has hit the market. The property is being offered with an asking price of $8.995 million.

The house is located in the Fryman Estates gated community, and is in the Modern Italianate style. It measures about 7,800 square feet, and contains seven bedrooms and eight baths. The design incorporates a billiards room, home cinema, and wood-paneled library.

The interior isn’t for the unadventurous, and those enamored of Eastern-influenced modern home design without a sense of humor may want to avoid looking at the following pictures. A wild postmodern ride through a wilderness of Renaissance tropes and sub-tropes, there’s a great deal of molding and carved wood, a lot of wrought iron, several fairly ponderous chandeliers, a good dose of rusticated stone, many ornate ceilings, and a couple of Florentine murals or frescoes tossed in because, well, why not.

Tones throughout are variations on terra-cotta or red earth, with gloss hardwood floors warming things up even more. Light fixtures run the gamut from recessed modern to 17th– or 18th-century style sconces.

The house has a good sense of space, and a pleasingly rambling layout—the foyer offers a feeling of liberation, rooms flow into one another nicely, and modern window design brings in lots of natural light. The exterior living spaces include a covered lounge area, kitchen, and pool/spa.

The façade of the property was used in ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’; the home’s last sale saw it change hands in 2007, for $5.2 million.
