A good look into the Sunset Strip home offered by Jared Leto. The actor and singer is asking $1.999 million for the house, which is apparently a former home of Jimmy Durante. Leto purchased it in 2006 for $1.65 million.
The modern home dates to the middle of the 1950’s, and measures 4,021 square feet. It contains four bedrooms and three baths. An entertainment room with wet bar, substantial living room with fireplace, and spacious kitchen fill out the interior; a room currently purposed as a recording studio may be converted into an additional common space, or a guest room with kitchenette.
Most appealing is the way vines have covered much of the exterior; in the rear of the house, especially, vine growth has been manipulated to sheath the walls in green, giving the somewhat generic two-story a well-defined sense of self. The lot is small—less than a third of an acre—but the space has been used to its best advantage, and the slate-accented pool, spa and grill area fits the house well.
The house’s interior, in the photos below, is shown more in the light of actual residence than the previous listing shots; the new pictures manage to capture a little more atmosphere, for a better shake at marketing.
The modern design is highlighted by a second-floor catwalk, and some stark but liberated ceilings. Floors are tile, and a good blend of hardwood tones by way of variety. The master bath, finished in slate tile, is dramatic without being dark, and the use of slate is a pleasant alternative to the formality of marble, and offers a quiet little interior-exterior motif.
Jared Leto picked up the Lookout Mountain Laboratory in 2014, and has since been busy transforming it into a residence. He’ll be appearing in the upcoming ‘Blade Runner 2049,’ set for release in October, although there’s no word as of now about the nature of his role.
