Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson have quietly sold a home in Sherman Oaks. The couple accepted $3.8 million for the property, which they picked up a little under five years ago for around $2.8 million. The lucky buyer is Lucky Brand co-founder Barry Perlman.

The house—a 1950’s ranch-style—measures about 3,000 square feet, and contains four bedrooms and 4.5 baths. The home was renovated and updated, and given a cohesive style, under ownership by the actors.

While some of the original design elements of the 1950’s remain post-renovation—the stacked block fireplace, for example—the interior has been cleaned up, brightened and modernized. The beamed ceilings are whitewashed, beams included, for a nice sense of expanse, and contemporary pendant lighting adds atmosphere. Hardwood floors are flat-finished for a subdued visual effect, and the common living areas are open-concept, making best use of available square footage. The kitchen upgrade is modern but understated, with hardwood cabinetry and contrasting stainless, and a breakfast bar gives the room dimension.

The family room features a pocket ceiling, and opens onto the property via retractable glass; a larger portal to the patio and pool opens from the family room, and there is additional access from the master. The master bath is quite spacious, and features a soaking-tub alcove with a view of the outdoor water feature. There is a pergola over the patio.

Rachel Bilson’s most recent screen appearances include episodes of ‘Nashville’ and ‘Drunk History’; Hayden Christensen will be appearing in the upcoming Bruce Willis vehicle ‘First Kill,’ due to be released in December.
