If this Mediterranean-Style Mansion Gets Its $45M Asking Price, It’ll Be Miami’s Priciest Sale of the Year

If you’re house-hunting south of Miami, and you’re in the market for something north of grandiose, you may want to check out this property in Coral Gables. It was recently listed with an asking price of $45 million but, considering how saturated the South Florida luxury housing market is right now, a prospective buyer might be able to do a little better than that.

What does a $45 million price tag buy you in 2017? In this case, a fairly imposing Italianate villa in Gables Estates, measuring about 13,000 square feet. It has six bedrooms and twelve full or partial baths, a peninsula location, and a lot size of nearly two and a half acres.

The house dates to 2007, and features a brick and shale motorcourt hemmed by well-landscaped tropical flora, and crowned with a landscaped centerpiece.

The interior is nicely executed for a sense of scale in keeping with the home’s façade; the great room ceiling is double height, for a lovely tropical feel. Elsewhere, ceilings are coffered, raised, or open-trussed. The interior architecture does seem a little at pains to work in as many reference points as possible, from Caribbean-casual to various approaches to formal; a colonnade, wood paneled walls, and Mediterranean patio have all been worked into the design. But, with 13,000 square feet to work with, why not?

The home’s exterior, from the back, features a beautiful progression of loggia, pool, lawn, and ocean, and the property incorporates a guesthouse.
