Director James Gunn may have sold his Los Angeles home. The filmmaker had listed the house with an asking price of $1.895 million; he purchased it in 2002, for a little under $900K. The property is currently pending closing.
The traditional-style home measures a little over 3,800 square feet, and contains five bedrooms and 4.5 baths. The property contains a detached workspace or studio.
The interior of the residence is unassuming, comfortable, and plain. Whitewash and mid-toned hardwood is the rule, generally; the 1950’s construction elements of exposed brick accents inside and out date the home a little, but some extensive modern renovations toward modern and cottage-style are a little more up-to-date, and brighten what may have originally been a fairly dark interior. Special attention was paid to ceiling design and lighting during the revision, adding quite a bit of individual character to the house.
The dayroom, which opens onto the property exterior, is bright and airy, and might be the most appealing room in the house. The warm wood and whitewash are a familiar contrast, but always work well when opening onto a green expanse.
The home’s exterior includes a small brick-bordered pool and patio, a step down patio off the house, a stretch of lawn-and-landscape, and the little self-contained studio space off the main house.
Among his other screenwriting credits, James Gunn scripted the 2004 ‘Dawn of the Dead’ reprise. He wrote the screenplay for, and directed the upcoming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,’ which will be released later this month.
