Billie Lourd—daughter of Carrie Fisher—has listed a nifty Santa Monica home she’s owned less than a year. The television starlet picked up the property about eleven months ago, for $2.25 million, and recently put it up for sale at $2.395 million.

A mid-1940’s construction, the home was rethought and renovated as a uniquely rambling design; there is story division, but the layout is extremely open. The house measures a compact 2,279 square feet, and contains a pair of bedroom suites, as well as an additional bath.

The exterior of the home is swathed in blue. It incorporates three major structural elements into its design, and the three rooflines intersect and complement each other. It’s an unusual vision, and a nice change from the more common styles in the area.

Interior design sensibilities are a slickly urbane interpretation of rural, which works very well; it’s never heavy-handed enough to come off as contrived. The staircase and handrail are charmingly unpretentious, and the concrete fireplaces in common area and master bedroom are entirely without ornament. Most appealing is a rounded accent partition in the common living area, which incorporates lighted niches in various sizes. The house does defy expectation quite artfully, striking a balance between New England country house, industrial chic and high modernist. Even the most formal room of the house—the master bath, naturally—seems to avoid rigidity.

The home does incorporate a lap pool and tiered patio into its small lot, accessible through a set of French doors. But its simple charms really lie within.

Billie Lourd—fresh from ‘Scream Queens’—is moving on to season 7 of ‘American Horror Story.’ She will be appearing in this year’s upcoming ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi.’
