Trading up—from the 11th floor to the 12th—Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen are moving out of one condo at 70 Vestry, and into another. The couple is apparently shelling out about $30 million for the new abode, and will presumably be selling the old for about $10 million less, and hopefully not at too much of a loss.
The new condo is also a five bedroom, and 5.5 bath unit; presumably, it’s also about 5,000 square feet, with an outside living space measuring an additional 2,000 square feet. The terrace must hold the appeal.
And, it is a beautiful terrace. With plenty of room for outdoor lounging and dining, and bordered by raised planters, the views of the Manhattan skyline shine especially brightly.
The interiors of the residences at 70 Vestry include the use of some fairly spectacular materials. The spaces contain a striking sense of flow, and lines are very clean. Aside from the wide-plank white oak, natural stone, and extremely considered aesthetic, the residences are shy of ornament. Kitchens, in particular, have a pretty quiet, functional feel.
70 Vestry was designed by Robert Stern, who used a particular French limestone noted for its unique grain and reflective quality. The use of limestone, and the tiered design, is evocative of New York City history, while the spare, contemporary interiors—by architect Daniel Romualdez—lend the supporting contrast and balance.
Brady and Bündchen purchased their first unit in the building last August. The couple now has two other properties to sell; an 11th floor at 70 Vestry, and a One Madison pad the couple has had listed for about $17 million since last autumn.
