Jeri Ryan has sold her home of twenty years. The actor accepted $4.95 million for the property, which she had lovingly restored as a French Mediterranean villa during her years of ownership. She had listed the home about a year ago, initially at a shadow under $7 million.
The house—situated in Encino—measures over 15,500 square feet, and represents a complete revision; millions of dollars went into the reimagined residence. Much of the material used was imported from France, including timber, limestone, cobblestone and terra cotta tile, and much of it was reclaimed. The great room fireplace and mantel dates to the eighteenth century, as do the ornamental columns.
The house is intended to invoke the rustic quality of a history home in the French countryside, and the plaster walls, wide-plank floors, and open beamed ceiling combine with the other materials to convince.
But, the house and grounds are also modern California; mature fruit trees were brought in to augment the 1.44 acre grounds, and include citrus, pomegranate, pecan and peach. Oak trees, too, were planted, to give the grounds a little historical cred. Inside, modern amenities and luxuries include a spectacular kitchen in antique terra cotta tile, limestone and black walnut, a home cinema with tiered seating, and a fitness center. The two-to-one bath-to-bed ratio is also a contemporary touch: six and twelve, including the master suite, and the pool and guest houses.
After her work as Borg Seven on ‘Star Trek: Voyager,’ Ryan went on to star in all four seasons of ‘Boston Public,’ and all three of ‘Body of Proof.’
