People have sought after powered skateboards ever since Marty McFly floated away on a hover board in the instant classic “Back to the Future Part II.” Now there is a new adventure toy on the market dubbed the BajaBoard and, while it won’t hover, it will get you away from the confines of the half-pipe, and off the skateboard map.
This is not your average electric skateboard. It is more like an ATV crossed with a snowboard that rockets the rider down any terrain at 31 mph. That’s a blistering speed, especially over uneven terrain. But read on.
The BajaBoard comes with either a 600Wh or 900Wh battery powering the board, and 10-inch pneumatic tires. Each tire boasts an independent suspension which helps to maintain the stability of the four-wheel drive board, whatever trail it tackles.
A LCD screen on the remote offers real-time feedback on speed and battery life, but on average, riders can expect 18 miles of ride time.
Outfitted with headlights and taillights, the BajaBoard is available for $3,000.
