Tyra Banks Asking $18M for NYC Pad with Gorgeous Skyline View

Former model Tyra Banks has listed her Riverhouse condominium for sale. The astute businesswoman is asking $17.5 million for the property. Banks has offered the residence as a $50K/month rental since 2015, and it is still available on those terms.

The apartment’s size is as attractive as its views: 7,000 square feet. It contains five bedrooms and eight baths among its fifteen rooms. It’s actually four separate original units, combined and renovated, divided between two floors. The unit incorporates self-contained living spaces from its individual condos, allowing for staff or guest quarters distinct from the main residence.

The condo’s renovation includes oak flooring, unusual ceiling accents, and a blend of design elements that merge to form a casual uptown atmosphere with an eye to high fashion. A formal entrance gallery, water feature, library, and salon are among the features of the residence.

Most appealing is the dining alcove, featuring a marvelously quirky dining table, and cool-tones a-plenty; the fabric ceiling accent is one of several in the apartment, a textural and colorful distraction for the eye.

The Riverhouse building was completed in 2008; it was marketed as being among the more eco-friendly recently-build residential buildings at the time of its completion. Air and water are filtered twice, paints are relatively safe, and bamboo and teak—sustainable woods—were used for floors and cabinets of the original units.

Tyra Banks, who began her career as a model, has tried her hand at acting, writing, producing and the cosmetics industry; she’s had a novel on the NYT bestseller list, and Tyra Beauty, her cosmetics line, was launched in 2014.
