Kevin Costner has listed his getaway retreat in Carpinteria. The legendary film actor, director and producer is looking for $60 million for the property.

The house itself is a little lost, caught between the Pacific and the ten acres of land, but that’s all well and good. It’s only a 1,000 square feet residence, but the ten acres on the Pacific is what counts. 500’ of beach frontage, and a generous stretch of grassy and wooded land distinguish the property. The two bedrooms, and 1.75 baths, are merely the associated necessities.

Aside from a little tiered landscaping leading down to the beach access road, there’s little in the way of formality on the property; in other words, there is nothing to distract from the natural beauty of the place. The views of the islands and coastline are spectacular, and there is plenty of room to wander within the meandering acreage. The beach is a haven for surfers; there’s a nice long break which develops right in front of the house itself.

The listing comes hot on the heels of a neighboring property—a French country-style house on about 4.5 acres. That home was the one-time vacationing spot of the Clintons. It listed at $28.5 million; the house measures about 7,000 square feet, and contains four bedrooms and seven full or partial baths.
