Television executive Kevin Reilly has picked up a suitably adventurous home in the Mandeville Canyon community. The creative decision-maker paid $7.4 million for the home, a dramatically revised 1940’s ranch.

The house measures about 6,000 square feet, and contains four bedrooms and 6.5 baths. The renovation has opened up the home beautifully, and given it lovely balance: there is a variety of hardwood tones between the plank floors, cabinetry and accents, and ceilings, walls are whitewashed throughout, and glass walls and skylights give the home a good sense of context.

The segmented hardwood ceiling in the common living area—a kind of vaulted concept which sloped into a series of centralized skylights; copper ornament sets off the hardwood well, and the metallic and wood grain surfaces serve to compliment the sky view.

Light fixtures are generally track or recessed, although the bronze-finished pendants in the dining room add a little warmth; tile is also warm-toned, and the counter backsplash in the kitchen, and the color scheme of a bathroom continues that warming influence. It’s a nice contrast with the cooler green of another bathroom, and the view through the abundant glass. But the glass walls, and retractable glass doors which open onto the patios and gardens, are probably the most impressive design elements of the home as it currently stands.

Kevin Reilly took the reins for Turner in 2014. He previously directed the entertainment divisions at networks Fox, FX and NBC.
