Nissan’s newest revision in the GT line is the GT-R Track Edition; the car will be making its official debut next month, at the upcoming New York Auto Show. The GT-R Track follows siblings GT–R Premium and NISMO in receiving the rethink and facelift.
The GT-R Track gets the same engine rating as the GT-R Premium, coaxing 585 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque out of the hand-assembled 3.8L V6; as with the other GT-R engines, the powerplant is put together in a clean room. The exhaust system is titanium, and the gearbox is a six-speed paddle-shifted dual-clutch automatic with selectable shift modes.
The facia of the GT-R Track is marked by Nissan’s ‘V-motion’ grille, which provides more aggressive cooling for the high-tuned engine. Spot welding and adhesive bonding increased rigidity and agility. Twenty-inch wheels, a carbon-fiber rear spoiler, and a tighter suspension enhance the revision, and help justify the price increase.
The GT-R Track cabin interior gets a dramatic red and black color scheme, and Recaro sport seats for racing appeal. But the interior has also been re-designed to emphasize the touring element of the model: an 8-inch touch screen with navigation, rear-view monitor, and smartphone connectivity for remote and emergency service.
A well-placed mid-tier model, positioned between the entry-level Premium and the NISMO, the GT-R track blends the performance upgrades of the latter with the cost-effectiveness of the former.
The GT-R Track MSRP is about $127K. It is available as a special order only, beginning late-summer.
