Watchmaker Roger Dubuis has teamed up with Italdesign to help celebrate the brand’s new hypercar release with a special edition timepiece.
Earlier this month the brand new Italdesign Automobili Speciali Zerouno made its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, wowing crowds in the process. The super lightweight aluminum and carbon fiber build up of the Zerouno is paired with the same 5.2-liter V10 beast of an engine that is also found in Lamborghini’s Huracan model. No specs were released, but it pumps out 602 horsepower in the Huracan, and Italdesign says the Zerouno can leap from stop to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds and offers a top speed of 205 mph. Only five examples of the Zerouno will be produced.
To honor the new Italdesign hypercar, Roger Dubuis has announced the release of the Excalibur Spider Italdesign Edition watch. The timepiece is based on the Swiss watchmaker’s Excalibur Spider Single Tourbillon model, and a similar skeletonized dial allows its wearer to clearly see the Geneva Seal-worthy caliber RD505SQ movement working away inside.
Roger Dubuis gave the 45mm carbon case watch a finish reminiscent of the Italian flag, mimicking that of the Zerouno. The band features accent stitching in the Italian colors.
Like the Italdesign hypercar, Roger Dubuis will release only five examples of the Excalibur Spider Italdesign Edition, with each boasting a $169,000 price tag.
