Spice Girl Mel B has listed a home near Beverly Hills. The pop star purchased the home with her nearly ex-husband, director Stephen Belafonte, for $4.3 million, in 2014; the house is listed at a shade under $9 million a couple of years later, but has been extensively redesigned.
As ultra-contemporary as possible might be a good way to describe the house, which makes liberal use of ambient accent LED lighting in walls and ceilings, is filled to bursting with hard angles, and incorporates a glass staircase and wood paneling into the composition. There is a fair amount of woodgrain involved, but it can’t really be considered a grounding influence, as it’s either very well incorporated into the otherwise detached vision, or too pale to be very substantial.
The top floor of the house is the master suite, and incorporates a salon, as well as individual bathrooms and closets, and a private terrace. But the common living space, with its soaring recessed ceilings, is probably the most interesting area of the house. All that LED lighting gives it the aura of a 1990’s nightclub; a little funky, and not necessarily in a good way.
The home’s amenities include a home cinema with tiered seating, a fitness studio, and a patio with pool, spa, and outdoor dining and grill space.
‘Scary Spice’ Mel B. is currently a judge on ‘America’s Got Talent.’ She has appeared in numerous films, as well as Broadway productions of ‘Rent’ and, very recently, ‘Chicago’—playing Roxie, naturally.
