TECHART’s take on the Porsche 911 Turbo S has all the requisite drama you’d expect, but it doesn’t go entirely overboard. Its sympathies are with the track, rather than with street-racing bling; regarding the wild rear wing and the ravenous-looking vents on the fascia, a first look reveals a tuner whose design sensibilities rest soundly in emphasized performance and speed, and not cosmetic ostentation.
TECHART is calling the tuned 911 the GTstreet R Cabriolet, and they’ve brought the Turbo S from 580 horsepower to about 710, and raised the bar on torque to 678 lb-ft. TECHART doesn’t reveal their performance-based alterations, but the improvements will apparently propel the GTstreet R to 60 in 2.7 seconds, and give the little charmer a top speed of 211MPH. If you live in an amenable stretch of Montana, or close to the Autobahn, you’ll be sorely tempted to test TECHART on their claim.
The kit includes a very good dose of carbon fiber, as expected, to raise the power-to-weight ratio, and active aerodynamics improve downforce, making the 911 noticeably more nimble, and keep the engine from becoming overwrought; aside from the rear wing, these include an active front spoiler, rear diffuser, and a central air outlet.
The GTstreet R is also outfitted with a performance exhaust system, which features a continuously variable pneumatic valve control; the system keeps back pressure from dragging on the engine by compensating for driving conditions, and avoids unwanted frequencies.
Pricing for the performance-kit upgrade has yet to be announced.
