Reality T.V. personality Brad Goreski and writer Gary Janetti have listed their home of about five years. The couple purchased the house—located in Westwood—for $3.8 million. They bought the property in 2012, for $2.33 million.
The house dates to the early 1930’s, and features some early Moderne design elements: the façade is dominated by a large second-floor gallery window which foreshadows the emphasis on transparency to come by mid-century. It measures about 4,550 square feet, and contains four bedrooms and 3.5 baths.
Original narrow plank oak floors, finished dark, and whitewash predominate inside, although the Greek revival fireplace, in sandstone, is the focal point of the common living space. Recessed lighting, and an industrial-inspired staircase and shelving supports add a little overtly contemporary functionality. Combined with the modern lines, the French doors, the tiered layout, and the open-trussed ceiling, the effect makes for a pleasing blend of historically charged elements. But the soft threshold arches, wrought-iron staircase balustrade, and a second fireplace in the southwestern style place its sympathies squarely in prewar L.A.
The house sits on a lot measuring a little over a quarter acre, but makes good use of available space with tiered landscaping, a little lawn, and sandstone patios with water feature and reflecting pool. Views from the property extend to the Los Angeles Country Club.
