Harley-Davidson isn’t known for its urban-oriented café racer-like bikes. The motorcycle monolith generally designs highway bikes with larger engines.
But the iconic motorcycle company’s recent offering, the 2017 Street Rod, speaks to a different buyer. It features a revised chassis, nimble handling to make it perfect for city streets, and an X 750 racing engine.
It’s still got a Harley’s soul, though. The High Output Revolution X 750 engine offers 18 percent more horsepower and 8 percent more torque than the regular X 750 engine. Harley also gave the Street Rod a liquid cooling unit to help improve air flow and keep the engine from overheating in traffic.
Harley-Davidson equipped the 2017 Street Rod with 17-inch wheels to improve ground clearance, and a new speed screen to sharpen up the visual. Other features include anti-lock braking, a Smart Security System, and dual front disc brakes.
The Street Rod ranges from $8,700 to $8,955, depending on the color, with three schemes available: Charcoal Denim, Olive Gold, and Vivid Black.
