German tuner Brabus, known for its ability to squeeze every drop of performance potential out of a Mercedes road car, has tackled off-road adventure without leaving the street vehicle behind.
Based on the Mercedes-Benz G 500 4×4², the Brabus 550 Adventure 4×4² has been souped up with a more rugged exterior, a rather stunning interior, and some tweaks under the hood to ramp up performance.
The company has taken the 4.0-liter Biturbo V8 from Mercedes and given it the Brabus B40-550 PowerXtra upgrade to add 128 more horsepower and 140 more pound-feet of torque; the engine now drives 55oHP and 590 pound-feet of torque. The SUV can hit 60 mph from a stop in 6.7 seconds and has its speed electronically limited at 130 mph.
The design of the SUV has been altered by Brabus to make it more aggressively off-road functional, including the addition of a new front bumper guard, winch, underride guard, brush guards, roof rack, tire carrier, hood scoop, rear bumper, and more.
However, that’s not to say the interior need be utilitarian: the 550 Adventure 4×4² comes with fine leathers, a new touch-control panel, and custom lighting and trimming. Now, that’s adventure with a little style.
