German tuner Brabus is known for its ability to turn a high-end Mercedes in a performance monster, but that doesn’t mean they can’t improve on something a little more modest.

The Brabus team has taken a Smart ForTwo–with its whopping three cylinders–and turned it into what it calls the Ultimate 125. This isn’t the first time the German shop has tuned up a Smart car; the Smart Brabus made its debut last year.

While Brabus has worked over the stock ForTwo engine 900cc three-cylinder engine to produce more horsepower, the result is more subtle than the usual Brabus effort: the diminutive three-cylinder now produces, as its name suggests, 125HP. The Ultimate 125 goes from zero-to-62 mph in 9.2 seconds and tops out at a very respectable 109 mph.

Brabus gave the ForTwo a new body kit, a triple-exhaust system, 18-inch monoblock wheels, and an eye-catching turquoise finish. They’re only going to make 125 examples of the Smart Ultimate 125, with pricing starting at $52,900 and $55,900, depending on the body style.

The German tuner has its new creation currently on display at the Geneva Motor Show.
