Producers Lynn Harris and Matti Leshem have officially listed their Fryman Canyon Estates home. The couple is asking $4.85 million for the house, which they purchased twelve years ago for $2.4 million. The couple had initially offered the property off-market, with an asking price of $5.4 million; it had been quietly available for about ten months before the listing.
The mid-century modern house was constructed in 1951, by professional set designer Maynard Woodard; Woodard designed the home himself. It measures about 3,300 square feet, and contains three bedrooms and three baths.
The house’s aesthetic is raw wood and glass, and a sense of transparency; from various positions outside, vision is allowed to pass unencumbered directly through it, and reflected light saturates the interior, but all the raw timber grounds the home, and keeps it down to earth. Lighting throughout is track or recessed, and fireplaces are kept minimal; the home is starkly devoid of ornament, and quite lovely through its unwillingness to use contrivance.
The common living areas are open concept, and living room, kitchen, dining room and music room all flow into and out of one another, with skylights enhancing the sense of liberation. The kitchen works beautifully, as a collection of thresholds and portals, and stainless steel is for once used to great effect as a balancing influence. A free-floating quarter staircase with hardwood treads adds a little of the unexpected to the interior.
The property exterior features a second-floor terrace, a patio, raised plant beds, and a pool and lounge area.
Lynn Harris is a film producer, and Matti Leshem is a branding expert, and film producer. The couple formed Weimaraner Pictures in 2014.
