Swedish high-performance automotive company Koenigsegg introduced the Agera in 2010, and followed it with several variants, culminating with the 25-example Agera RS in 2015. Now the company has unveiled the Agera RS Gryphon, which combines the performance tweaks of the RS with a limited-edition cosmetics package. It’s a vehicle for those looking for a supercar that just squeaks under the wire as a street-legal vehicle, and looks especially noticeable standing still.
The Gryphon RS is finished in clear carbon fiber, and features badges, roof line, and script accented with gold flake. Gold, too, accents the front vents, splitter, and nose of the car. And the air intake, spoiler, and rear vent, exhaust, and even under the hood.
Beyond all the gold—which isn’t very obnoxious, really—the cabin interior gets a nice suit of Alcantara, with the polished carbon fiber and brushed aluminum all the rage these days in supercar interiors. ‘Gryphon’ is featured prominently in gold in key places, too, just in case you forget what car you’re driving as you rocket past 200MPH on a Montana straightaway. There’s gold piping and striping within, of course, but the cabin’s most appealing feature is the infotainment system: an onboard digital warning system, connectivity to Koenigsegg’s cloud for software updates, and Apple CarPlay join onboard controls on a sleek, cutting edge console.
What can be said about the mechanics under the hood? A power-to-weight ratio that is very, very close to ‘One:1,’ and a twin-turbo V8 that pumps out 1,360HP and an almost unbelievable 1,011 lb ft of torque should say it all.
Price? Unknown as of now.
