Dia de los Muertos, otherwise known as “The Day of the Dead” is a popular festival in Latin American cultures that celebrates and remembers loved ones who have moved on from the physical realm.

A well-known visual component of this celebration is the Calaveras de Azucar, or Sugar Skulls, a bright and colorful representation of the holiday which fuses death and acceptance, joy and sorrow. Swiss watch company Angelus has produced an homage timepiece for the festival, the U10 Tourbillon Calavera.

The Calavera’s case is crafted from 62.7 BO-988 specific annealed stainless steel that has been bead-blasted and given a black PVD treatment on the inside.

Popping right off of this slightly darker finish is the ornately decorated Calavera de Azucar of the left-hand dial, which counts seconds, minutes, and hours all at once. The right side of the dial provides a view of the flying tourbillon.

Powering the U10 Tourbillon Calavera is Angelus’ in-house caliber A-100 that packs a massive 90-hour power reserve, with the power level indicator found peeking out on the side of the case.

Finishing it all off is a hand-stitched alligator leather strap. In black, of course.
