Gwenyth Paltrow’s Tribeca penthouse is back on the market. The actor’s Washington Street pied-a-terre was initially listed about a year ago, for $14.25 million, and quickly reduced about a month later to $12.85 million, where it lingered until the late fall of last year before being pulled. The property has hit the market again, in advance of a desired late-winter or early-spring sale, with a more aggressive ask of $10 million.
The condo measures 3,892 square feet, and contains three bedrooms and 3.5 baths. A gallery, great room, library, pantry and foyer round out the floor plan.
The single-floor apartment’s interior vision is the work of the design team at Roman and Williams. Tones are very subdued: white predominates, giving the home a blazing appeal, and abundant glass liberates the spaces; beige and off-white cool, and slab marble kitchen counters and backsplashes, add some visual interest. Vaulted skylights lend the apartment an old New York tenement feel, brightening and liberating further, and bringing a dash of Village history to the mix.
The design team’s emphasis on careful craftsmanship, and their unique interpretive foundation, which grounds period historical sensibilities within the demands of contemporary style, raises the space out of the ordinary: a pressed tin custom ceiling, reclaimed materials, and hand-painted floral-motif wall and ceiling panels all provide the space with desired singularity.
The terraces—which measure an additional 500+ square feet, and flank the residence—bring brick and city substance into the property, giving it a limited but much-needed urban context.
The penthouse is one of two listed last March by owners Paltrow and ex Chris Martin. Last April Paltrow added a new property to her West Coast real estate portfolio, a $4.9 million home in Santa Barbara.
