David Stewart has listed his home in the hip Toluca Lake neighborhood. The home is being offered with a listing price of $5.65 million. Stewart purchased the property in 2015, for $5.5 million. The home’s previous sale price was $4.5 million, when it changed hands in 2006.

The house dates to the 1920’s, and very much looks the part, especially within: floors are generally terra-cotta tile, and quite beautiful, as is the tiled staircase with hand-painted accents and wrought-iron baluster and handrail. The windows in the foyer are recessed, and a pleasingly eclectic mix of shapes, and the lantern-style chandelier is one of many in the home. The living space of the main house measures 4,760 feet, and contains three bedrooms and 4.5 baths.

The home has atmosphere to burn. Arches are plentiful, as you’d expect, and range from soft to gothic. French doors throughout the home open to a series of balconies and terraces, and vaulted ceilings with exposed beams lend a sense of expansion to many of the rooms. Floors are occasionally dark-toned hardwood, providing ballast against the whitewashed stucco. Fireplaces are each unique, allowing individual spaces a strong sense of identity. Bathrooms have clearly been remodeled, but with an eye to the history of the property: traditional black-on-white or subway tile, and vintage-style fixtures, sinks and tubs help maintain the home’s historical relevance.

The exterior of the property contains an attached office space, currently in use as a recording studio, and a detached guest house. Sandstone or terra-cotta patios, a traditional tiled fountain, outdoor kiva, and tasteful pool bordered by a loggia and lounge areas completes the profile.
