Late television producer Michael King’s Pacific Palisades estate has been relisted, with a price reduction. The property was initially listed at $42 million in 2016, and is now priced at $38 million.

King commissioned the build himself, having purchased the property in 2002 for $11 million, and demolishing the existing home. The Georgian Revival home features a very formal, symmetrical façade reminiscent of an English manor house.

Measures 15,640 square feet, and contains seven bedrooms and thirteen baths. Materials used are indulgent—mahogany, marble and terra cotta tiles, hand-painted wallpaper. Formal details such as mahogany paneling, column supports, crown moldings and wrought iron are contrasted nicely with subway tile, LED ceiling fixtures, and—in the master bedroom—a unique concept ceiling and arch motif. The master suite is quite self-contained, with a sitting room, private terrace, and his and hers baths.

The home’s amenities include a library, formal dining room with paneled walls, kitchen with windowed breakfast room and outdoor terrace, games room, offices, staff living quarters, a solarium music room with glass doors opening onto the property, and five fireplaces. The tiered home cinema is nicely accented with mahogany, and has the feel of a studio screening room.

The house is situated on about 1.4 acres of land; the landscaping features gardens and expansive lawns, and incorporates outdoor living areas. A pool and pool house are nestled behind the home, and feature a terrace with space for outside dining.

Michael King’s King World Productions is best known for a string of television hits that stretched from the 1980’s to the present. His hit programs usually featured low production cost, making them hugely profitable; they include ‘Jeopardy,’ ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show,’ and ‘Dr. Phil.’
