German start-up company Tex-Lock has reimagined the bike lock by making its new lock crafted from a textile fabric that offers the same strength as high-grade steel.

Most sturdy and worthwhile bike locks are bulky and burdensome because of the material necessary to make them. But thanks to Tex-Lock’s new fabric lock, bike owners have the option of a super-strong, ultra-lightweight option to secure their investment and mode of transportation.

Weighing in at only 350 grams per meter, the lock is made up of multilayered ropes of the steel-strong material. The rope-like build makes the lock much stronger than traditional locks.

Tex-Lock was founded by an all-female group, and they used materials already proven as effective in the aerospace and automotive industry. The fabric material is water and fire resistant, along with being resistant to wire cutters and axe strikes.
