This one-off Lotus has been commissioned as homage to the second iconic Bond vehicle: if Connery’s Bond had his machine-gun and oil-slick equipped Aston Martin DB5, then Moore’s Bond is surely most associated with the white, submergible Lotus Esprit from 1977’s ‘The Spy Who Loved Me.’ The car was ordered by a customer via the company’s Lotus Exclusive program, which is the bespoke, dream-car arm of the British automaker.

A pop-cultural riff on Lotus’ Evora Sport 410, the car features the same tartan interior accents as the Esprit featured in the film. The angles, though, have been softened; this is not the wedge-shaped exotic car from 1977. It’s a contemporary homage, not a copy. The custom Evora also gets a good dose of carbon fiber, for a more up to date look, and a special rear badge. A black stripe down each side of the Evora evokes the exterior cosmetics of the espionage Esprit.

Under the car’s hood, the standard 410 powerplant resides: a 3.5L super charged V6 which will launch this singular Evora, or any other, from 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. Speaking of launching, there is no option for guided missiles, or deployable underwater mines. But, then, most of us who saw the film as Bond brats only wanted an exotic sportscar for Christmas which doubled as an ocean-going explorer. The onboard explosives were just cinematic overkill.
