With winter beginning to wane, Mercedes-Benz has decided to plant the seed of warm-weather liberation early in the minds of driving enthusiasts with the designo [sic] Edition SL and AMG RedArt SLC model editions; while nothing says shimmering May afternoon quite like a ragtop roadster, Mercedes is upping the ante to add a little additional cosmetic style into their current convertible offerings. Think spring, as the folks up north used to say. And maybe dress it up a little, while you’re at it.
First up: the Mercedes-Benz SL designo Editions, the more fully dressed between the two. The designo packages typically offer a series of bespoke cosmetic options to Mercedes buyers; in the context of the 400SL and 500SL models, features include Mystic Blue finish, 19” or 20” AMG 10-spoke forged wheels, chrome accents, nappa leather upholstery, DINAMICA roof liner, and white piano-lacquer trim.
The Mercedes-AMG RedArt Edition is available on SLC models 180, 200, 250D, and 300, and is offered in a variety of exterior finish colors. Red accents add a touch of individuality to wheels, bumpers, aprons and front splitters of SLC vehicles. Interior options include color schemes: black leather with pearl nappa inserts and red stitching, for example, among others. The RedArt SLC cars also receive aluminum trim with dark carbon grain, and RedArt-insignia floor mats.
The Mercedes-Benz designo SL models, and Mercedes-AMG RedArt SLC models, are available to order in Europe, but will also be making an appearance in the North American market. U.S. pricing has not yet been finalized.
