Ahead of a return to his hometown, Ex-Phillie’s first baseman and ESPN ‘Baseball Tonight’ ex-pundit John Kruk has listed his estate in Naples, Florida, with an asking price of $2.795 million.
The Southern-style home measures 6,500 square feet, and contains five bedrooms and 5.5 baths. Kruk purchased the home in 2011 for about $4 million.
The home’s façade is symmetrical, with the imposing characteristics of the style—columns, covered entryway, prominent second-floor gable—before it begins to ramble into a relaxed, warm-weather layout. The home is dressed in neutral or off white, with warm-toned wood flooring throughout most of the living space adding depth. Kitchen and bath floors are tiled. The master bedroom is plantation-style, with a shiplap ceiling and ceiling fan and series bay windows; the master bath is finished in marble, and features a central shower. Interior angles are generally hard, although an arch here and there softens the mood a little. One of the baths features natural slate floor, and a stacked slate shower stall, representing one of the more interesting design features of the home.
The house is situated on 1.37 acres, and the lot is nicely populated with mature fruit trees, and quite private; additionally, there is a guest house attached to the main residence. The enclosed pool/lounge area and porch, though, might be the most striking element of the property exterior; a large solarium, it is waiting to be filled out with artful interior landscaping.
This season, Mr. Kruk will be again working for the Phillies, but this time in the booth, as a broadcaster.
