French designer Philippe Starck has teamed up with Jerome Olivet and electronics company Thomson to create a new smartphone concept dubbed Alo.
The futuristic and shiny Alo doesn’t use a screen but instead projects holographic 3D images that are activated using voice commands. These 3D holograms are able to present a message, or even a movie, all from the comfort of a device designed to fit easily into any hand.
The exterior of the Alo is just as cool as the projection technology. The flexible casing of the Alo allows its user to feel and receive feedback using vibration and heat. Even cooler, however, is how the concept smartphone can repair itself as soon as it is damaged thanks to a special skin.
Philippe Starck and his partners plan on delivering a working prototype as soon as the end of 2017.
