Golfers have a wide range of options when it comes to the extra goodies and gadgets they can add to their bag when they hit the links. However, the new Garmin Approach G30 might just be the coolest.
With built-in GPS and the ability to track a golfer’s stats, the Approach G30 is a handheld with a small 2.3-inch color screen that Garmin has ensured is readable even in bright and sunny climates. The GPS shows the user on the screen the distance to the hole, the green, and many other features found on any given hole on a golf course.
Users won’t have to worry about the Approach G30 working where they’re golfing because the device comes preloaded with information for 40,000 courses and a lifetime of free map updates.
The Approach G30 doesn’t stop at giving golfers an inside look at the current or upcoming hole, it also offers the option of tracking the scores for up to four players, logging statistics such as putts per round and fairways hit. When an Approach G30 owner has racked up enough information on a golfer’s regular courses, he or she can go back and learn from performance and mistakes.
Garmin says the Approach G30 is lighter and more cost effective than its Approach G8 that the brand already sells. It can also pair with other Garmin devices such as the TruSwing. The Approach G30 can also sync with the Connect mobile app for Android and iOS devices to track data.
The Approach G30 offers a 15-hour charge and comes with a water resistance that is able to withstand heavy downpours. Garmin asks $249.99 for its Approach G30.
