The price of Randy Johnson’s ornate and rather comprehensive home has been dropped twenty percent. Initially listed in 2014 at a round $25 million in 2014, the price is now $19.995 million.
Located in Paradise Valley, outside Phoenix, the home rests at the base of Mummy Mountain. It measures a whopping 25,000 square feet, and contains seven bedrooms and twelve baths. The design style is, overall, Mediterranean, with Medieval and Italian Renaissance elements—arched colonnades front and rear, turret, rounded entryway, rusticated stonework, ornamental moldings, and decorative windows.
The home’s sense of space is intoxicating, from the double-height foyer to the great room, which features 20’ coffered ceilings. Each room is designed with a different design approach; the workmanship is extraordinary—but, again, very ornate. Wood paneled bar and billiards room; formal dining room with columns and oval recessed ceiling; master bathroom with fireplace beside the soaking tub. Ceilings and toning vary dramatically from room to room.
The home theater really is a home cinema, complete with ticket booth; it features tiered and balcony seating. There is a 1,500 square foot home fitness center, music room and recording studio, and a pair of offices.
The house sits on a five-acre lot, and the exterior of the property is just as expansive as the home’s interior: multiple patios, fire pit, trellises, formally landscaped flora, tennis court, and pool with fountains and waterslide. There are lovely mountain and valley views.
Southpaw pitching legend Randy Johnson retired from professional baseball in 2010, after a career spanning over twenty years. He was known for a blistering fastball—clocked at over 100MPH—and a deceptive slider.
