In order to stick it to a new Swiss law that relaxed the “Swiss Made” label to favor of companies that outsource, H. Moser has come out with “the most Swiss watch ever created” with its Swiss Mad Watch.
H. Moser has gone a little mad with the Swiss Mad Watch—even though in doing so the company has remained true and made it the most Swiss watch ever—by crafting a case out of Swiss cheese.
Yes, you heard that right. Using Vacherin Mont d’Or cheese, which is produced in the same village that H. Moser CEO Edouard Meylan hails from, and a specially made resin, the brand has developed a composite material strong enough to craft an actual cheese watch case.
Housed in the 42mm Swiss cheese case is an in-house HMC 327 caliber. The bright red fumé dial comes with white lacquered hands and double indexes, which has been styled to recall the Swiss flag. The case is attached to a Swiss cowhide strap.
Even the price contains historical significance. H. Moser is asking 1,081,291 CHF for the timepiece, a reference to the date Switzerland was founded, August 1, 1921.
H. Moser will also make a white gold edition of the Swiss Mad timepiece dubbed the Venturer Swiss Mad. This will feature a 39mm case paired with H. Moser’s M-branded crown.
The Swiss made Venturer Swiss Mad will come out in a limited edition of 50 examples, with each fetching a $21,500 price tag.
