Olympic freestyle swimming champ Ian Thorpe, better known as the Thorpedo, has sold his Laurel Canyon home in Hollywood Hills for $950,000.

Thorpe’s now-former house was built in 1961 and originally owned by “Mildred Pierce” actor John Compton. The California property was also formerly owned by publicist to the stars, Elliot Mintz, whose client list included the likes of Bob Dylan, John Lennon, and Diana Ross.

The modest home measures in at an apartment-sized 960 square feet and comes with a modern kitchen boasting white subway tile, a wood-paneled office, and living room space. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom home features stunning views of the canyon below through walls of glass and an arched balcony.

The living space continues with a large deck that includes a trellis-topped dining area and a wet bar. There is also a second deck reachable via a wooden staircase.

Thorpe won five gold, three silver, and a bronze medal during his time with the Australian national team at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. He has also won 11 gold World Championships. He is interested in fashion and serves as an ambassador for Armani with his own underwear and designer jewelry line.
