Umami Burger founder Adam Fleischman’s L.A. home has been listed at $2.7 million.
A 1925 construction, the brick home has neo-Tudor architectural elements. It measures 3,848 square feet, and contains five bedrooms. It is only a 2.5 bath home, which is not surprising, considering the home’s age.
The interior is largely whitewashed, with a bit of cool toning, original, narrow plank oak floors, and exposed oak beams. The kitchen contains its original wide-plank oak; the subway tile stove backsplash and shiplap cabinetry combines with the flooring to give it a bright, utilitarian feel, and recessed lighting lends a bit of subtle modernity.
The living room, with its black manor-style fireplace and arched, step-down entry, and the dining room, with French doors opening onto the property, offer no novelty, and plenty of comfort. Pretty standard fare, but it’s all tastefully executed, and doesn’t detract from the house’s transplanted-English appeal. The hardwood throughout the home—including the staircase with wrought-iron handrail and balustrade—is the foundation of the interior, and gives the home an overall feel of verifiable history.
The exterior of the property includes a covered patio with inset stone floor, and a freeform pool. Stone walkways and footbridge lead into the rococo grounds that lie at the property’s edge.
Adam Fleischman, CEO and founder of the Umami Group, founded Umami Burger in 2009. Umami’s inspired merger of Japanese-gourmet and the all-American hamburger created a sensation in California.
