Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof have sold this Northeastern traditional-style home in Brentwood Hills. The selling price was $8.16 million. The property was initially listed in October for $8.795 million. Hannigan and Denisof purchased the home in 2015 for $7.89 million.

The house dates to 1936, and was last renovated in the 1960’s, but the couple did upgrade the house. The kitchen now features contrasting grey and off-white marble accent counters and island; an off-white subway tile backsplash and reclaimed timber shelving give the room a subtly country-house appeal. Whitewash, an abundance of glass, recessed ceilings and sets of French doors throughout the home provide light and space. The fireplace in the living room is a grounding accent; original, stacked slate with an inlaid foot, it adds a bit of weight to the interior.

The house measures 5,468 square feet, and contains four bedrooms and six baths, including the guest house. The master bedroom is large and bright, with a door opening onto a private balcony; the master bath features glass tile over a cobalt background, with a dark marble cap around the soaking tub and spa; a nice contrast.

There is a gym, and a home office, too, but the house’s most livable space is the family room, with three sets of French doors opening onto the pool and yard. The two-thirds acre lot is nicely landscaped, and fairly private.

Hannigan and Denisof purchased a home in Encino late last year. Hannigan is known for her role in the television series ‘How I Met Your Mother.’ Both actors appeared in the now-classic television program ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer.’
