Honda took to the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show to reveal its concept for a self-balancing motorcycle that offers the ability to stand on its own without a kickstand.

The Riding Assist technology Honda has unveiled will help riders maintain control of the bike in times of traffic or parking where a heavy motorcycle can be cumbersome and difficult to maneuver. This is where the new Honda Balance Mode comes into play.

Honda hasn’t used gyroscopes, which are commonly used to help stabilize but are at times heavy and clunky. Instead, it has used the same technology that is found in its personal mobility device, the UNI-CUB.

On top of adding stability, the new Honda Balance Mode gives the bike the ability to follow its rider around.

Honda has even made the Balance Mode an optional feature on the concept bike, allowing the rider to turn it off for a more authentic riding experience.
