Patrick Moran, President of ABC Studios, Sells 1920’s Manor for $7.9M

In a recent sale, this Hancock Park neo-Tudor-style home owned by Patrick Moran fetched $7.88 million for the ABC Studios president. Interestingly, the home was sold to Patrick Moran by Rob Zombie, in 2014, for $3.555 million. Mr. Zombie purchased a home in Laurel Canyon late last year.

Dating to 1924, the house would look right at home in Westchester County, New York, with its staid Tudor lines, mixed brick and stucco exterior, and coffered mahogany paneling. Originally, it certainly had the English Manor house feel about it; a bit dark, with dark-finished exposed beams and warm-toned hardwood floors making the house feel, at times, a little confined.

A remodel under Mr. Moran’s ownership brought in a little whitewash, including some of the exposed beams and paneling, to brighten things up, and expand the sense of space. The remodel cooled down the look of the rest of the home, too, with extensive grey-toning balancing out the white and off-white by virtue of subtle enhancement.

The property contains a main house, guest residence, and pool house, containing a total of five bedrooms and seven full or partial baths. The main house measures 7,400 square feet, and features many tasteful amenities, including a pub-style bar and lounge, and several fireplaces. The guest house and pool house are remodeled with an updated, artisanal flair, with a bit of wild coloration judiciously used to lend a sense of liberation to the somewhat ponderous original style.

The property exterior features stone terracing, formal landscaping, and a freeform pool.

Patrick Moran is both a young lion, and a veteran of the entertainment industry. A multi-network visionary, he was made president of ABC Studios in the autumn of 2016; he joined ABC in 2010.
