Riding around on paved roads or more adventurous trails is about to become a whole lot smarter thanks to LeEco’s new smart bicycle designs.
By the second quarter of this year, LeEco is slated to release two new smart-bike examples, the Road Bike and the Mountain Bike. Each will be able to track fitness information and directions on a 4-inch touchscreen display to make sure each ride is a pleasant one.
LeEco’s Smart Road Bike is perfect for paved roads. The frame is built using carbon fiber, as is the handlebar, wheels, fork, and seat post. When all is said and done, the Road Bike weighs in at only 18.5 pounds.
Powering the Smart Road Bike is an 11-speed one-by drivetrain.
For off-road purposes, LeEco will come out with the Smart Mountain Bike. It is built on the same frame and handlebars as the Road Bike, but there are some bulked up additions such as an SR Suntour XCR Air front fork to handle bumpier trails.
The Smart Mountain Bike weighs in at 26.9 pounds and is also an 11-speed model but adds a hydraulic brake setup to the build.
The smart bikes run on the Android 6.0-powered BikeOS thanks to a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor. Maps are provided by the bicycle-specific Here Maps, and the companion app for the bike is able to track it should it ever be stolen.
