Celine Dion’s lovely modernist home in Paris is for sale. Situated in one of the most desirable neighborhoods of the City of Lights, within a district of the city known as a cultural hotbed scattered with parks and museums, it is both tasteful and well-placed.

The home, a 1990’s construction, measures 6,700 square feet, and contains many notable elements of careful craftsmanship. The ceiling the in the great room is arched, giving the space a very comfortable feel; at one end of the room tile steps lead down to a lounge and entertainment area, while a wooden staircase rises to a balcony library, and a vaulted, glass ceiling sprawls overhead. In the master suite, glass doors open to an outdoor balcony, with views of nearby parks, and the Parisian skyline in the distance.

Overall, the design aesthetic is very understated, but considered. The great room fireplace, windows and doors are unadorned, allowing the furnishings to emerge without distraction. The main staircase bannister is purely Bauhaus, with gently arcing hardwood balustrades. Light fixtures are functional and reserved. Flooring throughout is neutral-toned tile or hardwood.

The home’s private cinema is located in the basement, along with the wine cellar. An elevator services the four floors. An outdoor deck, and landscaped gardens, offer a nice respite. Maybe especially in April. In Paris, you know.

Celine Dion was born in Quebec. At the age of fourteen, she won a gold medal at the Yamaha World Popular Song Festival. After signing with Epic records, a long string of hits began, including 1995’s D’eux, the best-selling French language album in history. A true chanteuse, her style contains musical elements as diverse as American gospel and R&B, European popular, and musical theatre.
