Porsche’s Boxster model may not be the most luxe or sought-after sports car on the market, but like modern coupes that we have all come to know and love, the Boxster has become the epitome of a reliable, yet tasteful, sports car that is perfect as an everyday car.

The famous German automaker has delivered on this point again with its new 718 Boxster example, which is currently in its third generation. The 718 number given to the Boxster is meant to recall Porsche’s racing models from the late 1950s and early 60’s that were the inspiration for the Boxster model that started off as a concept in 1992.

Porsche has given the 718 Boxster another nod to the car company’s past by offering a four-cylinder engine for the first time since Porsche offered one in the 944 in the 1980s. Porsche has given the small 2.0-liter engine a turbocharger to draw out maximum power, and it definitely offers plenty for a street-legal speedster.

Of course, the 718 Boxster comes with all of the bells and whistles that one would expect when buying a Porsche. In addition, the German auto giant has also come out with the 718 Cayman for fans hardtops.
